Do you like Girl Scout cookies?
It might sound like a negative title at first, but there are many in this new generation that has no idea that Girl Scouts ever sold cookies door to door. If you’re from a generation that does still has a fresh memory of buying Girl Scout cookies from Soccer Moms at your workplace, you’re not alone. Most people who remember how unique these little boxes of cookies were will get an idea of what kind of cookies Trader Joe’s is selling.
Whether you love them or hated them, it’s all a matter of personal taste than anything else. Some people hated the mint chip cookies while the oatmeal tasted much better. In the case of TJs Dark Chocolate Star Cookies, that’s exactly how they’ve been described over and over. This doesn’t mean that their cookies are bad at all. Interestingly enough, the dark chocolate coating over a shortbread cookie is not a bad combination for a simple treat.
These cookies are considered the perfect go-along treat for coffee breaks and are generally nice. They’re not exactly the sweetest tasting cookie you’ll find, but the little white sprinkles give a neat little sweet crunch upon each bite. To be honest, a sweeter alternative to these would be more like Mother’s Animal Circus cookies. So be prepared to experience a subtle chocolate flavor that isn’t so overpowering.
The packaging is well done but doesn’t match the number of cookies that you get inside the box. Just like potato chips, these cookies are packed with mostly air so the cookies don’t get crushed. If the boxes are stored improperly, you can bet the air will deflate. Luckily this doesn’t happen so often if you buy these are your local Trader Joe’s. The bad part is these are seasonal when sold in their stores, but when they’re sold online it’s year-round. Check out some of our favorite cookies here.
